I have heard you thru the door as you purge your latest meal. An attempt, to obtain a body, which you feel, will
give you happiness. I have sat next to you in the local bar as you tipped your glass touching your fully made-up lips. Hoping
the next one bought for you will be someone who will love you. Sadly this won’t happen because you don’t know love. To you
love is early memories of a father who said the word “love” but then would strike your cheek. Love is when after the abuse
took place it was programmed that it was your fault not his. When he abandoned you this was strengthened when your mom
would bring home her random boyfriends who also showed Love, by striking her face.
I have seen you walk behind closed doors where only darkness looms; staring in a mirror, glaring back was a portrait of hate.
With the resolve and the only control you knew, a razor would pierce your skin in an attempt to embody how much you pain
you felt on the inside, while bearing witness thru the outside. You looked for hope, instead found an empty palace. The
familiar theme, another trip came up, one more meeting. You hear words spoken, such as “Hope”, “Love”, and “Passion”. To
you they are just another word in a language filled with over 500,000 words. So you seek the alternative, happiness and love
are taught to you everyday. This is what you are searching for the most in life, thus you follow the instructions. You sit by
yourself pounding away on a keyboard glaring into a world where your hundred of friends and “fans” say all the right things.
You flip thru your favorite magazine reading exactly how to obtain happiness, love, money, and “fame”.
Hundreds of channels on the screen across the room show you exactly how to act, speak, dress, and look like. Advertising
and marketing know precisely how to persuade you to use their product. Everybody wants a piece of over $365billion in “free”
cash!
Status Quo: put in this context doesn’t sound very inspiring. This is the best “reality” drama on the market, sadly though this is
truth!
The world waiting is one of complete false idols and confusion about what happiness is or how to achieve it. Due to the
onslaught of so-called “reality” television it is taught that anyone can be, and should be, famous. Add to this the fact that when
questioned about their future, the average student said they wanted to be famous.
Look at the celebrities we have as role models. You won’t need to take your shoes off, the numbers not that high.
Once again you have to look, dress, act a certain way. No wonder we have such a crisis on our hands, do you think it will get
better by simply adding diets, taking away choices, etc. In my personal experience, I will say you’re wrong.
After my weight loss, I worked in the gym as a personal trainer. I became obsessed with my weight. I actually became bulimic
my-self, and I was in great shape.
Imagine the torment and hell these kids are living with? Imagine being 9 years old, here is a quote from an email I received. “
My son Derek has decided not to eat until he is skinny. Come to find out there is a 5th grader who told him that he is fat! -Dee,
Mother OKC, OK” With this mindset at nine years old, do you feel removing soda machines from his school will change the
behavior?
Society determines our self-worth to often these days. We do not teach enough to our youth of how to evaluate themselves
and really unlock their passion. Passion equals truth, and truth will always transcend lies. They must learn how to re-program
themselves and utilize the awesome power of their mind and body for amazing possibilities.
Use our youth to empower other youth and create outlets for them to utilize their talents, while encouraging them to push
themselves even further.
We make changes by not fighting battles; we will work through the system in order to create a shift in our culture. We use all
means necessary to develop new programs, a web based community that is utilizing new features and the best of other online
products and communities, and everything a student wants. Designed for students, by students, allowing complete free access
to the resources to enhance their life. Allow them to overcome any challenge, pursue a life of real passion. Teens deserve to
dream; in fact as far as I am concerned it is their right!
We change the culture, we change the environment, and we change a “behavior”.
